What is ISO 22000?
ISO 22000 is a generic food safety management system. It defines a set of general food safety requirements that apply to all organizations in the food chain. If your organization is part of the food chain, ISO 22000 wants you to establish a food safety management system (FSMS). It then wants you to use the system to ensure that food products do not cause adverse human health effects.
ISO 22000 certification demonstrates a commitment to food safety throughout the supply chain in order to deliver safe food products to the final consumer. The standard is operated within the framework of a structured management system and incorporated into the overall management activities of the organization, providing efficient integration and seamless compatibility with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
The UKAS recognition for Socotec CI (UK) Group of Certification Bodies to certify ISO 22000 compliments the existing accreditation to assess organizations against ISO 9001 requirements and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
