What is ISO 22000?

ISO 22000 is a generic food safety management system. It defines a set of general food safety requirements that apply to all organizations in the food chain. If your organization is part of the food chain, ISO 22000 wants you to establish a food safety management system (FSMS). It then wants you to use the system to ensure that food products do not cause adverse human health effects.

ISO 22000 certification demonstrates a commitment to food safety throughout the supply chain in order to deliver safe food products to the final consumer. The standard is operated within the framework of a structured management system and incorporated into the overall management activities of the organization, providing efficient integration and seamless compatibility with quality management systems such as ISO 9001.
